IRVINE, Calif. – Three Golden Eagles from the CUI men's volleyball team have been named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) All-Freshman team for the 2024 season.
 

Ties Cornelissen has led CUI with 211 kills on the season averaging 3.15 kills per set. The Holland native has played in 22 of the 24 matches that Concordia has played and has a .270 hitting percentage. Defensively he has dug up 63 and had 28 blocks. He recorded a career-high of 24 kills against Charleston (WV) on Feb. 27 while hitting an impressive .571 on the night. He has reached double-digits in nine of his outings on the court.
 

Yotam Briger has been the starting setter in 22 of the matches but has played in all 24. Briger has handed out 723 assists this season and reached sixth in the CUI record book with this accolade. He averages 8.82 assists per set which marks sixth in the MPSF conference. The Tel Aviv, Israel native leads CUI with 129 digs and has 27 block assists with six solo blocks. The setter notched a career-high of 51 assists at USC on Feb. 16.
 

Christian Galoppo is the other freshman to earn this award after putting down 187 kills and serving up 14 aces along the way. Galoppo has 100 digs and been a force up at the net with six solo blocks along with 36 block assists. He has played opposite most of the season and reached a career-high of 17 kills twice at USC on Feb. 16 and against Stanford on Apr. 6. The oppo also reached a high of 16 digs against Harvard on Mar. 13 where he has only reached double-digits one other time. The Luxembourg native has topped double-digits eight times throughout the season.
 

CUI will be playing in the MPSF tournament starting Wednesday Apr. 17 in Los Angeles, Calif. at USC. The Golden Eagles are ranked No. 7 in the tournament and will take on the No. 2 seed Grand Canyon starting at 3 p.m. If CUI advances they will face off with No. 1 seeded UCLA Thursday Apr. 18 at 4:30 p.m. The Championship match will be held Saturday Apr. 20 at 6 p.m.
