CUI Takes Flight At GCC Quarterfinals

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Entering the GCC Conference Championships, the women's water polo team faced No. 6 Loyola Marymount for quarterfinals and went out with a fight.

Tamsyn Evezard tallied two of the three goals for CUI, inching her way to 150 career goals. The senior attacker was recently named GCC All-Conference Honorable Mention for her impressive performance thus far. With only one goal to go, Tamsyn can hit the 150 milestone by the next match.

LMU held off the Golden Eagles for most of the game, but Tamsyn Evezard and Tess Henke made their presence known in the final two periods. Tamsyn Evezard hit her first mark in the third, effectively building momentum for CUI. With one second left on the clock, Tessa Tavaglione sent a pass to Tess Henke, who scored the final CUI goal. Sofia Smith, Sofia Dominguez, and Andie Perreira all had a few shots on cage, but the LMU defense was quick to respond. Abby Mammen did her part in stealing the ball from the Lions whenever the opportunity presented itself.

It was a tough loss for the Golden Eagles, but the match against Santa Clara awaits on the horizon. The Green and the Gold will play at 10 am on Saturday morning.
