IRVINE, Calif. – The CUI men's volleyball team were looking for a rematch against No. 7 Stanford and put up a tough fight coming out of the gates by taking the first set. The Cardinal came back to win the next three with scores 25-23, 23-25, 16-25, and 23-25.
Freshman
Christian Galoppo tied his career-high of 17 kills while posting an impressive .353 hitting percentage.
Gage Doble contributed with nine kills and was all over the court digging up 11 on the night. The sophomore had a career-high of three aces from the service line that Stanford was not able to return.
Makua Marumoto had six kills and served up an ace for the Golden Eagles.
Middle
Maxwell McCullough started things off strong for the Green and Gold and went 6-for-13 while
Clement Osahon Jr. went 7-for-11 at the net and both collected two solo blocks.
Nathan Biteau and
Yotam Briger both took control of the offense and had 16 and 25 assists with a combined seven digs.
Jacob Reilly was in the libero slot and dug up four while covering his hitters and keeping the ball alive on the CUI side.
The Golden Eagles will finish conference play with a series against No. 2 UCLA starting Thursday Apr. 11 with a 7 p.m. start time where CUI will honor their seniors followed by Saturday Apr. 13 at 7 p.m. in Los Angeles, Calif.
