SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - Six different Golden Eagles scored for Concordia in a tough 18-6 loss on Sunday against Westminster.
In a rematch of conference foes, Concordia was hoping to deal some payback for earlier loss to the Griffins when the two teams first met back in Irvine in February.
Unfortunately, Westminster jumped out to an 11-5 lead by halftime and limited CUI to only one goal in the second half. This is the second straight outing that the Golden Eagles offense went cold after intermission.
One of the bright spots for Concordia was seeing
Cole Crisostomo net his first career goal as a Golden Eagle. He opened the scoring in the first period to give CUI a brief lead.
Nick Beeson scored a goal and also assisted on
Matt Carresi's goal in the first quarter that tied the game at 2-2. Beeson's goal came in the second period when face off specialist
Cade Poe fed him with a slick pass.
Drew Buckley and
Reece Lapham also scored in the second quarter. For Lapham that is his fourth goal of the year.
Leading scorer
Chad McFadden added one more tally in the fourth with the assist credited to
Jeremy Barnes.
