Irvine, Calif. - The CUI Women's basketball team played a tough fought game tonight against the Silverswords from Chaminade.
Leading the scoring category for the Golden Eagles was Senior Erika Maggard with 14 points. Hannah Vela was close behind Maggard with 12 points while also having a stellar defensive game with six steals. To no surprise, Izzy Navarro also contributed 12 points on the night which happened to be in some critical moments for CUI.
Tonight's game was very back and forth for the first three quarters, and by halftime, the Silverswords were only up 23-22. By the end of the third quarter the Golden Eagles managed to capture a 41-38 lead. The final quarter of the game included an explosive Chaminade offense that racked up 27 points to take the lead late in the game and secure the win.Â
