IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University men's volleyball team played against Merrimack College for the first time and came out with a four set win with scores 25-17, 20-25, 25-17, and 25-21.
Clement Osahon Jr. went 6-for-11 with no errors with a hitting percentage of .545 and
Kasey Clouet had two kills. Middles Osahon Jr. and Clouet had four block assists and two solo blocks a-piece. Blocking was a key factor for the Golden Eagles as each hitter that played in the front row contributed with at least one block. The whole team tallied an impressive 21 blocks shutting down the Warriors offense.
Sophomore
Christian Galoppo was unstoppable as he led CUI with 16 kills while hitting an impressive .467.
Makua Marumoto had six kills and four digs with
Connor Dell contributing with three kills and five digs.
Marcus Morgan came into the game and made an immediate impact with his tough serving as he had a team-high of two aces and kills.
Setter
Colin Marks had 22 assists and threw down four kills and
Makai Lipson added five.
Cruse Ae'a made his debut in the libero jersey and scooped up seven digs.
"I felt great and it was a great team win," said Galoppo. "The team chemistry is through the roof. It couldn't be better and we are like a family. The new guys we have made our best friends and I think it's showing out on the court."
The Golden Eagles will finish off the week playing against Daemen on Saturday Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. in the CU Arena.
