CUI Opens Up 2025 Against The Lions

Navarro Drops 25 Points in Latest Scoring Surge

Irvine, Calif. - The CUI women's basketball team played their first home game of 2025 after returning from their two game trip from Hawai'i.

The Golden Eagles and the Lions from Vanguard played a very back and forth first quarter, but unfortunately for the Green and Gold, the Lions took over the momentum after that. Although the score didn't end up in the Golden Eagles favor, there were some very notable performances on the night.

Sophomore Izzy Navarro stepped up for the Golden Eagles once again and scored a team-high 25 points while shooting almost 50 percent from the three point line and above 85 percent from the free throw line. Erika Maggard also had herself a game, shooting 50 percent from the three point line and added 16 points. Maggard and Navarro continue to be a powerhouse for CUI.

Justyce Harris also showed some tremendous effort and hustle which resulted in her having four steals on the night. Another notable performance came from Caylee Santos, who sank her first three-pointer of the season and gave good minutes off the bench.

The Golden Eagles will play next at home Saturday, Jan. 11 against Westmont at 2 p.m.
