IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team secured its first PacWest victory of the 2025 season with a decisive 3-0 sweep over Westmont on Friday night.
Freshman setter Grace Carollo delivered an exceptional performance, recording her first career double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs. Her composure and versatility were instrumental in running the offense and providing stability in the back row. Carollo's all-around contribution exemplifies her growth and potential as a key player for the Golden Eagles. Senior middle blocker Caitlin Jarrell was a dominant force offensively, racking up 12 kills on 22 attempts while hitting an impressive .545 for the match. Her efficient and powerful hitting helped keep the Golden Eagles on the front foot, consistently breaking through Westmont's defense. Jarrell's strong performance was a vital part of CUI's success and played a big role in securing their first conference win of the season.
Sophomore middle blocker Delaney Gregg also had a standout performance, setting a new career high with 9 total blocks. Her defensive presence at the net was a critical factor in limiting Westmont's offensive attacks and maintaining pressure throughout the match.
The third set was a nail-biter, with both teams battling fiercely point for point. CUI managed to hold their composure down the stretch, edging out Westmont in a tightly contested finish. The Golden Eagles' resilience and clutch plays in the final moments helped them secure the set and complete the sweep, highlighting their determination to earn their first conference win.
