CUI Collects Tenth Clean Sheet By Stopping Chaminade

HONOLULU, Hawai'i - The Golden Eagles have now kept their opponents to a goose egg in the scoring column on ten separate occasions this season.

Concordia's latest victim came Thursday when the Green and Gold held Chaminade scoreless.

The visitors got on the board just seconds before halftime when they kept pushing in the 45th minute to get one more shot off. The ball ultimately went up the sideline to Mya Stice and the senior was able to float the ball towards the goal where Reagon Van Horn capitalized to give CUI the 1-0 lead at intermission.

In the second half, All-Region defender Madison Hall flipped the ball ahead in to the heart of the defense in the 60th minute of play. Bella Barrett headed the ball towards the goal and Elle Soleau swooped in to knock it home past the keeper. Soleau now has five goals this season which is second on the squad behind Barrett who has six.

Riley Urquiza extended her school record for individual career shutouts with the 29th clean sheet in goal. This is her ninth of the season and on one occasion, her and Erica Ihlein combined for a clean sheet.

Next up for the ladies is an important date at Hawaii Hilo this Saturday, Oct 25 when the Golden Eagles and Vulcans play for a chance to vault themselves into first place. The two programs are tied with 14 points and identical 4-1-2 records in conference play. APU enters the weekend with 15 points but lost recently at Vanguard 2-0 to open the door for teams to potentially catch them down the stretch.
