HILO, HAWAI'I – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team bounced back on their Hawai'i trip Sunday afternoon with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over Hawaii Pacific University, taking sets 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, and 25-18 inside the Shark Tank. After splitting the first two sets, the Golden Eagles regained momentum in the third with tough serving and efficient hitting, finishing at a match-best .364 clip in the fourth to secure the road win.
Senior middle blocker
Caitlin Jarrell continued her dominant play at the net, leading CUI with 13 kills while adding two blocks and hitting an efficient .333 on the day. This marks her second consecutive match reaching double digits kills and seventh match total this season. Freshman outside hitter
Sofia Ajmal followed closely behind with 11 kills and four blocks, while junior outside hitter
Kayden Croy chipped in nine kills to round out the balanced attack.
The Green and Gold served aggressively throughout the match, posting a team season high 14 aces to reach 77 total points, just one shy of their season high. Sophomore Setter
Macy Scheer led the charge from behind the line with a career-high six aces. Junior outside hitter
Halen Kiefer added five aces and 14 digs, providing consistency on both ends of the court.
Avery Banaag shined in her first career start as CUI's primary libero, collecting a career-high 17 digs to anchor the back row. Sophomore middle blocker
Delaney Gregg was a dominant presence at the net, finishing with seven blocks to help shut down the Sharks' offense and limit them to a .206 hitting percentage.
With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 10-9 overall and 4-4 in PacWest play as they return home for two non-conference matchups against Azusa Pacific and Biola.
