Golden Eagles Cruise to Halloween Victory

IRVINE, Calif. — The Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team capped off Halloween night with a treat for Golden Eagle fans, securing a 14–9 win over Biola in an intense conference matchup.

Concordia's offense was firing on all cylinders from the opening whistle. Harry Bentham led the charge with a hat trick and an assist, while Hugo Wouters and Oscar Garcia Blomback each added two goals apiece to keep the Golden Eagles in control. Kaliq Khan, Nicolas Fuchs, and Dimitrios Koritsas all chipped in key goals and assists, helping CUI maintain steady momentum through all four quarters.

Anchoring the defense was standout goalkeeper Pablo de Souza, who turned in another stellar performance with 17 saves and an assist. His command in the cage frustrated Biola's attack all evening, keeping the Golden Eagles comfortably ahead as the game wore on.

Concordia's balanced scoring effort showcased the team's depth and chemistry, with nine different players recording points. Fuchs and Koritsas each added two assists, while Luke Addington also contributed two assists and a pair of steals.

Defensively, CUI's energy and communication stood out. Sam Diamond and Addington led the way with two steals each, while Garcia Blomback and de Souza added one apiece. The Golden Eagles consistently shut down Biola's offensive rhythm, turning defensive stops into fast-break opportunities that fueled their transition game.

By halftime, Concordia had built a comfortable lead and never looked back. Even as Biola attempted a late push in the fourth quarter, the Golden Eagles remained composed and efficient, closing the game with poise and focus.

The Halloween victory adds another strong performance to CUI's résumé as the team continues to build momentum heading into the final stretch of the season. The Golden Eagles' offensive balance, defensive discipline, and leadership from the cage highlighted a complete team effort under the lights in Irvine.
