IRVINE, Calif. — The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw against Dominican University on Saturday afternoon in its PacWest Conference home opener at Golden Eagles Field.
After a scoreless first half, the Penguins broke through in the 78th minute. The Golden Eagles responded just minutes later when Sloane De Torres scored an unassisted goal off a corner kick in the 86th minute to even the match.
By scoring that late equalizer, the Concordia women's soccer team extended its school record for a home unbeaten streak to 19 matches. Over the past three seasons, CUI has 16 wins, zero losses and three draws on home turf dating back to the beginning of the 2023 season.
CUI controlled much of the game, out shooting Dominican 19-5, including 15 shots in the second half. Senior midfielder Elle Soleau led the attack with five shots, while goalkeeper Riley Urquiza made a pair of key saves to help preserve the draw.
With the result, Concordia moves to 6-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in PacWest play.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 7, hosting Jessup University at 3:00 p.m. at Golden Eagles Field. The men's match will follow at 6:30 p.m. later that evening.
