La Mirada, Calif. -The Concordia Golden Eagles came up just one goal shy in a thrilling rivalry clash against Biola, falling 10–9 on Tuesday afternoon. Despite the narrow defeat, Concordia showcased resilience, offensive firepower, and a historic defensive milestone that cements this season in the program's record books.
Senior goalkeeper Pablo de Souza etched his name into Golden Eagle history, breaking the school record for single-season saves with 227 and counting. The previous mark of 226, set by Cullen Mooer back in 2019, stood for six years before de Souza surpassed it with another strong outing in the cage. He finished the match with 7 saves, keeping Concordia within striking distance until the final whistle.
On the offensive end, Hans Wouters powered the Golden Eagles with 4 goals and 1 assist, while Oscar Garcia Blomback netted 2 scores and added strong defensive play with 2 steals. Kai Young contributed across the board with a goal, an assist, and 2 steals, and Sam Diamond added a timely goal to keep Concordia's momentum alive.
The match was tightly contested from start to finish, with the Golden Eagles rallying late but unable to find the equalizer against Biola's goalkeeper. Still, Concordia's balanced scoring and relentless defense showed the squad's growth and determination as the season continues.
