IRVINE, Calif. — In a battle that featured 11 lead changes and came down to the final possession, the Concordia University Irvine Golden Eagles saw their late comeback bid slip just inches short, falling 75–73 to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos on Tuesday night inside CU Arena.
Despite trailing by 12 at halftime, CUI roared back with a 39-point second half, showcasing a refusal to fold against a talented Broncos squad. MaCarhy Morris and Kaden Minter each poured in 18 points to lead the CUI offense. Morris sparked the second-half surge while Minter knocked down a pair of timely threes and went 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.
Nick Corbett delivered one of the night's most impressive performances, posting a 15-rebound, 10-point double-double.Blake Ballard came off the bench to provide a much-needed scoring jolt, adding 9 points on 4-of-7 shooting, while Radek Homer and Marcellus Edwards each chipped in 8.
Down two with seconds remaining, the Golden Eagles had a look at a potential game-winner, but the shot didn't fall, sealing the narrow defeat.
With the loss, CUI moves to 2–1 on the season and will look to bounce back as PacWest play approaches.
