IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team faced off against No. 4 Point Loma on Saturday and put on a show for the fans. Although Point Loma won in four sets CUI did not go down easy and the final scores were 25-23, 16-25, 24-26, and 19-25.
Emma Wegleitner and
Sofia Ajmal had a solid performance earning nine and eight kills with a combined 11 digs from the back row.
Kayden Croy led the Green and Gold with 11 kills and two solo blocks coming at critical moments.
Halen Kiefer added seven kills and digs along with an ace.
Both middles
Caitlin Jarrell and
Delaney Gregg put down seven kills each. Senior Jarrell had two solo blocks up at the net and contributed with an ace while Gregg hit above .300.
CUI continues to run their offense with two the two setters
Macy Scheer and
Grace Carollo. The duo dished out 19 and 27 assists. Scheer was tough at the service line having a team-high of three aces while Carollo tied her career-high of 10 digs.
Avery Banaag and
Kendyll Winn were both in the libero jersey for the match. Banaag earned her fourth consective double-digit match with 14 digs.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road for the next two games as they will take on Azusa Pacific Wednesday Nov. 12 at 6 p.m. followed by Vanguard Friday Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m.
