IRVINE, Calif. – Make it three straight wins in PacWest play for the surging Concordia Golden Eagles!
The CUI women's basketball team dominated their Thursday contest with visiting Fresno Pacific, holding the Sunbirds to only 43 points. That's the lowest total allowed by CUI in any game so far this season.
CUI held FPU to just five points in the entire first period and limited the visitors to just 4-for-22 shooting (18 percent) from three-point land. CUI won every quarter and led comfortably 32-17 at intermission.
The Golden Eagles left no doubt by pulling away by a wide margin and recording a resounding 75-43 victory.
Camryn Kiernan led Concordia with 18 points and three assists. She shot 50 percent from the floor (7-for-14) and also made two treys. Meanwhile, freshman
Asia Darcuiel made her first career start and added 17 points and seven rebounds to finish in double figures for the fifth time in her last six outings.
Fellow freshman
Ellana Klemp also hit a pair of triples and added a career-high 10 points off the bench.
Allison Shumate contributed 14 points and eight rebounds while
Myia Collins led CUI with 10 boards.
"Defensively, we are getting better at working together and on the offensive end, we're looking to push in transition and playing better off of each other," explained Klemp.

"I'm really happy for this group," said CUI head coach
Christine Collins-Kiernan. "They took lessons from past games and stacked them into consistent minutes tonight, and it showed. We got great production from everyone. We've been working to build a culture where everyone is bought in, engaged, and moving forward together, and it was really rewarding to see that come to life in this game—no one was left behind. It's always good to win the final game of the (calendar) year, and it gives you great vibes heading into the break. This team should be very proud of themselves, and hopefully this is something we can continue to build on moving forward."
Concordia is now 3-1 in PacWest play and 5-4 overall heading into Christmas break. The women have defeated Azusa Pacific, Dominican and Fresno Pacific in their last three home games in impressive fashion.
The Golden Eagles head up to northern California after New Year's Day with a road date at Dominican on tap for Saturday, Jan 3 at 1 p.m. PT. After visiting Menlo that following Monday, CUI is back at home again on Thursday, Jan 8 against Vanguard at 5 p.m.
