Box Score 2 REDLANDS, Calif. – The men's and women's tennis teams started their 2025 season on the road against Redlands. This is the second consecutive year that CUI is playing against Redlands in their regular season opener and both pickd up a win.
Mens: CUI 5, Redlands 2
In singles the CUI dominated winning five of the six games against the Bulldogs.
Felix Veyhle and
Max Renz went to three sets after both winning the first and dropping the second. The two Golden Eagles took control of the third set and Veyle finished 6-1 while Renz went 6-0.
Spencer Cinco,
Adam Large, and freshman
Oleksandr Kolesnychenko all closed out singles in two straight sets to help secure their first win of the season.
Max Renz and
Adam Large teamed up for doubles and fell just short 6-4.
Spencer Cinco and
Oleksandr Kolesnychenko was another duo for the Green and Gold and fell short 3-6.
Felix Veyhle and
Max Mueller brought the solo win in doubles for CUI and took the match over their opponents by a close 7-5.
Womens: CUI 4, Redlands 3
The Redlands won in all three of the doubles competition and it came down to the singles for the women to take the win by a close 4-3 win.
Cheyenne Houkes and
Kristyna Dvorakova were in the six and five slot for the Golden Eagles. The two players earned the first two points for CUI after beating the Bulldogs in just two sets.
Alicia Da Re was another game that went to three sets.
Jessica Bear went the distance going to three sets and earning two of them off of tiebreak sets. Bear was in the second slot and secured the teams victory over Redlands.
The men's and women's tennis teams will be on the road as they take on UC Riverside Tuesday Feb. 4. The men are slated for a 10 a.m. start time and the women will play at 2 p.m.
