IRVINE, Calif. - The cross country teams at Concordia University Irvine have earned high honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with the announcement of the 2024 All-Academic Awards. Both the men's and women's teams were recognized for their exceptional academic achievements, underscoring their commitment to excellence both on the course and in the classroom. 

To qualify for All-Academic Team status, a team must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 30 percent of their regional championship meet. For the 2024-25 season, CUI's men's team earned a team GPA of 3.310, while the women's team achieved an impressive 3.395 GPA. These high GPAs reflect the student-athletes' ability to balance the challenges of cross country with academic success.

Individual Honors for Top Athletes

Alongside the team recognition, several individual athletes were honored for their academic achievements. Colin Bervig of the men's team earned a GPA of 3.65, Spencer Handorf finished with a GPA of 3.39, and Noah Plaza achieved a GPA of 3.28. On the women's side, Porshe Eismann excelled with a GPA of 3.84, and Taylor Whitfield led with an outstanding GPA of 3.92. These athletes have demonstrated remarkable success both in their studies and on the cross country course.
