IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team hosted No. 16 UC Santa Barbara in a rematch from earlier in the season. The Golden Eagles rallied with another ranked team but fell short in four sets with scores 20-25, 19-25, 26-24, and 21-25.
Kasey Clouet dominated out of the middle going 9-for-13 with no hitting errors while hitting an impressive .692. Clouet also led CUI with four block assists throughout the match.
Clement Osahon Jr. had six kills along with one solo and two block assists.
Junior
Connor Dell came into the game in the third set and led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills topping his career high of 10 from 2023. Outside hitter
Ties Cornelissen reached double digits for the fifth time this season finishing at 10.
Marcus Morgan had five kills with
Gage Doble and
Makua Marumoto getting into the game and both added three kills each. Four Golden Eagles had at least one ace while Morgan continues to put some heat behind the ball with two aces marking his eighth game with at least one ace. Doble was all over the back row digging up seven alongside libero
Cruse Ae'a who dug up nine.
Colin Marks and
Makai Lipson split the setter duties dishing out 20 and 19 assists respectively. The duo had some impressive digs from right back adding a combined 11 digs.
The Golden Eagles will host another ranked team No. 13 UC San Diego on Saturday Feb. 22 with a 7 p.m. start time.
