IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University men's volleyball team played their sixth ranked team of the season Saturday against No. 13 UC San Diego. The Tritons came out with a three set win with scores 25-22, 25-21, and 25-16.
Justin Dowdle came into the game in the second set and made an immediate impact on the right side finishing the match with a team high of eight kills and hitting percentage of .462. The opposite had four digs while adding two block assists.
Christian Galoppo also had eight kills alongside Dowdle with two block assists at the net.
Ties Cornelissen was effective offensively with seven kills and served up the lone ace for the Green and Gold.
Middle
Kasey Clouet was solid at the net when set as he had four kills on 10 attempts. Clouet and
Clement Osahon Jr. tallied four block assists and Osahon Jr. with the one solo block for CUI.
Colin Marks ran the offense and had 23 assists with
Cruse Ae'a in the libero jersey scooping up a team high of five digs. Ae'a was able to keep rallies going for the Golden Eagles while he was covering his hitters.
After a seven home game stanza the Golden Eagles will look for a rematch against The Master's on the road Thursday Feb. 27 in Santa Clarita, Calif.
