SANTA CLARITA, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team were playing The Master's in a rematch battle on the road Thursday. The Golden Eagles fell short in three sets with scores 25-20, 25-22, and 25-17.
Opposite hitter
Justin Dowdle led CUI with 13 kills seven digs throughout the match.
Gage Doble added six kills and also dug up a team high of seven digs from the back row.
Makua Marumoto and
Ties Cornelissen were in the match and had a combined five kills. Marumoto continues to be dominate at the back line with his top spin serve serving up the lone ace for CUI and had six digs.
Clement Osahon Jr. and
Kasey Clouet continue to be the middles for the Green and Gold. Oshahon Jr. tallied four kills while Clouet went three-for-six with no errors. Clouet put up the one solo block for Concordia from the middle.
Cruse Ae'a led the back row and had six digs and had one assist.
Colin Marks had two kills out of the setter position and 26 assists.
The Golden Eagles were more effective out of the gates in the first set outhitting their opponents with a .429 hitting percentage compared to the Mustangs .406.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the CU Arena as they take on new added games against Jessup starting Thursday Mar. 6 and Friday Mar. 7 with 7 p.m. start times.
