IRVINE, Calif. – The CUI softball team had a strong showing today, taking down Menlo 13-1 in just five innings due to the mercy rule.

The Golden Eagles exploded in the first inning, scoring 11 runs. Caitlynn Campbell got the scoring started with a sacrifice fly, bringing in the first run, before launching a two-run homer later in the inning. She finished the game 1-for-2.
Kaliya Yco also contributed with a two-run homer of her own, while Kayla Simpson and Shelby Pfeiler each doubled to right-center.
In the fourth inning, Alexa Couto singled and drove in an RBI to keep the offense rolling.
Kira Morris picked up the win on the mound, improving to 2-2 for the season, as CUI cruised to the easy victory.
Next Up
CUI will play a doubleheader at Hawaii Hilo on Saturday, March 1st. The first game will start at 2:00 PM, with the second game following at 4:00 PM.
