Golden Eagles Take Two Games From Hilo, Clinching the Series

GM 1: CUI 9, UHH 2

The Golden Eagles scored early in the first inning thanks to hot hitter Audrey Robles, who scored Jessica Im and Kayla Rodgers on a 2 RBI single.

Sophomore Jessica Im went a perfect 3-3 on the day with a double in the second inning that put the Golden Eagles up 3-1. Sophomore Audrey Robles went 2-3 on the day with a double as well as 4 RBI.

Kaliya Yco and Kayla Rodgers also did some damage as Yco went a perfect 4-4 and Rodgers went 2-4. Gabby Villa, Shelli Faulk, Shelby Pfeiler, and Caitlynn Campbell also all picked up a hit in this game.

Bella Calvo pitched 7.0 innings and only allowed 4 hits while striking out six.

A combination of offensive efforts from scattered players and a solid Bella Calvo in the circle, the Golden Eagles ended up with the 9-2 win over Hilo.

GM 2: CUI 2, UHH 1

Game 2 between the Golden Eagles and Vulcans began scoreless through 2 innings, but in the bottom of the third, the Vulcans scored the first run of the game on a single. But, in the sixth, Freshman Kaliya Yco changed the fate of the game with one swing, and crushed the ball over the left field fence to put the Golden Eagles up 2-1, and the Vulcans could not come back from this deficit.

Audrey Robles continued her 14-game hitting streak with a single in the top of the sixth inning.

Kailey Estes picked up her first win of her career and pitched the final 2 innings of the game, only allowing two hits while striking out one.

Next Up:

The Golden Eagles will play one final game in Hilo tomorrow at 2:00 PM PT, then will head over to Honolulu, Hawai'i to take on Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade.
