Men’s Tennis Takes Down D1 UCR

Concordia's home opener is Friday vs. Hope International at 10 AM

Box Score RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Make it two wins in a row to start the season for the Concordia University Irvine men's tennis team!

The Golden Eagles defeated Division 1 program UC Riverside to move to 2-0 on Tuesday thanks to a superb start. CUI grabbed the doubles point thanks to wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots.

First, Max Renz and Adam Large collected a 6-2 win. Then Concordia senior and SAAC rep Spencer Cinco and sophomore Lemiel Kei Taira wrapped it up with a hard-fought 7-6 decision to go up 1-0.

In singles play, Max Mueller and Large both won at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots respectively with identical 6-2, 6-2 scores. Max Renz was also victorious at No. 5 singles on the heels of a 6-2, 7-5 decision.

Cinco beat his opponent in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to round out the scoring for CUI.

The Concordia men will now turn their attention to the home opener this Friday, Feb 7 at 11:00 AM.
