Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Kaia Nisby

Lions Got Caged

Irvine, Calif. - In a highly anticipated rematch against the Vanguard Lions, the CUI Men's volleyball team swept all three sets and made their presence known in the CU Arena. (25-19, 25-17, 25-21).

Some outstanding performances from the Golden Eagles include Gage Doble, who has so far had an amazing series against the Lions. Doble led the team with a game-high 15 kills, 5 digs, and a .394 hitting percentage. Doble also became the third CUI player this season to reach 100 kills. Coming in close behind Doble is Christian Galoppo, who picked up 13 kills. Galoppo and Doble were both a huge reason that the Golden Eagles were able to keep their momentum throughout the night.  Makai Lipson was another huge contributor to recording 37 assists, the second-highest total for him this season.

The Golden Eagles combined for a total of 42 kills on the night, and Nathan Habermas and Ties Cornelissen added to the list with 5 kills and 6 kills.

The Golden Eagles will play two more games against Vanguard, both hosted by the Lions on March 27th and March 29th. CLICK HERE to follow along with the remainder of the Men's Volleyball season.
