CUI Tennis Teams Rack Up The Wins & PacWest Awards!

Alicia Da Re & Adam Large Earned Player of the Week Honors Along with Both Squads

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 IRVINE, Calif. - What a week it has been for our two Concordia tennis teams!

Both the men and women were named the PacWest Team of the Week after going 3-0 against three league opponents to close out the month of February.

The men's team then improved to 9-1 on Monday with a 7-0 thrashing of visiting Jessup. The Golden Eagles are on a four-game winning streak after defeating Biola last week at home, and then traveling up to Westmont to beat the host Warriors 6-1. Practically 24 hours later, CUI then topped the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds 5-2 in Santa Barbara.

Adam Large earned mirror wins at No. 2 singles by the exact scores of 6-0, 6-2 wins to cap off a perfect stretch where he went 3-0 in singles for the week. He also went 3-0 with partner Max Renz in doubles play to earn PacWest Player of the Week honors. This is the second time Large has been recognized by the league already this spring.

For the ladies, senior Alicia Da Re has had an outstanding stretch to help CUI improve to 7-3.  She moved up to No. 2 singles against Westmont for a quick victory, and then came back and grabbed another win at No. 3 singles in CUI's 5-2 decision over FPU.

The CUI women also easily handled Jessup by a score of 7-0. Nationally ranked Sophie Rachor went 2-1 at the top singles position and has now teamed with sophomore Bryn Johnson to win four straight decisions in doubles.

Both Concordia tennis teams are slated to host Hawai'i Pacific on Wednesday with the women's match moved up to an 8:30 a.m. start time to hopefully help both teams get their matches in.
The men are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. against the No. 18 Sharks, but could start earlier if time allows.
