IRVINE, Calif. - Hannah Edwards and Anna Tyukasz showcased their dominance in the water and contributed to the 14-10 victory over the visiting Biola Eagles.
In the first 15 seconds of the game, freshman Sierrah Ferguson scored the first goal of the day. She then went on to capture two additional goals for Concordia in the later periods, collecting her third hat trick of the season.
In the second period, the Golden Eagles broke past Biola with an impressive four goals to their three to capture the lead.
Standout performances from Hannah Edwards and Anna Tyukasz pushed Concordia ahead of the Eagles. The dynamic duo collected a combined eight goals in the first match of the day, splitting with four goals each. Edwards didn't stop there. The Utah-native went on to win three of the four sprints in the match. The opening advantage was crucial for the Golden Eagles' momentum.
Biola's defense was aggressive in the water, but three five-meter penalties were whistled for the game. Anna Tyukasz went two for two on penalty goals and tallied a single goal in every period.
Jaden Soto stopped not one, but two penalty shots from the opposing Eagles and collected 15 saves overall.
The third period was the strongest for Concordia. With six goals added to the board, the Green and the Gold outshined Biola 12-9. The visiting Eagles continued to fight back, but goals from Edwards and Tyukasz made the gap that much harder to bridge. Despite the late attempt by Biola to reclaim the game, the Golden Eagles triumphed 14-10, which improved their record to 6-20.
Heading into the late-night match against Chapman, Concordia met some resistance. Like the first game of the day, the start of the match was neck and neck.
Chapman initially captured the lead, but Concordia tied it five to five before the half. Although the Golden Eagles fought fiercely in the water, Chapman pushed ahead and won the game 8-10.
Anna Tyukasz offensively led the team with a hat trick and Jaden Soto made an additional 15 saves to make it 30 on the day.
