CARSON, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team bounced back in the second game of the season to secure a solid 2-0 result in their favor on the road.
Facing Cal State Dominguez Hills, who was receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA DII National Poll... Concordia went into the half even despite earning four corner kicks and trying three shots.
After a scoreless first half,
Elle Soleau scored her first goal as a Golden Eagle in the 58th minute of action.
Sarah Venegas doubled the lead with a clutch insurance goal in the 83rd minute to put an exclamation point on the team effort. PacWest Goalkeeper of the Year
Riley Urquiza and the defense kept things tidy and held the Toros to only five shots on the night. Urquiza was credited with one save and another shot went off the crossbar, as the Toros only managed two shots on goal the whole game.
CUI now looks ahead to its home opener this Saturday, Sept. 13 at 6:30 p.m. against Cal State San Marcos. This will be the only scheduled night game for the CUI women at home this year, as the ladies play first in the PacWest Conference doubleheaders in 2025. The men played first a year ago.
