FULLERTON, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's water polo team kept things rolling on Friday with a 22-13 win over Occidental at the Titan Invitational.
The Golden Eagles set the tone early, exploding for eight goals in the first quarter and never looking back. Senior Kai Young powered the attack with a game-high six goals, while Hugo Wouters added four goals and three assists. Oscar Garcia Blomback and Porter Rosenlof each scored twice, and freshman Ruben Montoya also tallied two goals in the win.
CUI's offense was balanced, with 13 different players recording either a goal or an assist. The Golden Eagles also finished 2-for-2 on sprints and got strong contributions from their goalkeepers. Pablo de Souza made eight saves in the first three quarters, while Derek Maddox added one save in the final period.
With the victory, CUI improves to 5-5 on the season and continues tournament play on Saturday, Sept. 13, with two games: Air Force at 1 p.m. followed by Chapman at 5 p.m.
