NAMPA, Idaho - The Golden Eagles continued their season with a 1-1 start to the Hampton Inn Nighthawk Classic in Nampa, Idaho. The Green and Gold started with day with a 3-0 win against Westminster and a 3-1 loss against Colorado School of Mines. 
CUI 3, WU 0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-19)
Emma Wegleitner led the way for the Green and Gold with a powerful performance, racking up 15 kills and 14 digs. She was supported by Delaney Gregg and Ally Scheidle, who each chipped in six kills. Nevada Knowles set the tone with 28 assists to keep the offense flowing, while adding eight digs. At the service line, Celia Dowell made a huge impact with four aces, and Scheidle added three of her own, helping the Golden Eagles gain key momentum throughout the match. Gregg also held strong at the net with a team-high four blocks.
The win marks the Golden Eagles fourth win to open the 2025 season, a testament to their depth, chemistry, and discipline. Head coach Eryn Leja-Martin's squad continues to impress with their high-level execution offensively and defensively. With confidence building and contributions coming from the whole roster, the Golden Eagles are looking like a force to be reckoned with as the tournament continues. 
CUI 1, Mines 3 (20-25, 25-18, 21-25, 21-25)
Despite a hard-fought 3-1 loss to Colorado School of Mines, the Golden Eagles showed grit and growth throughout the match. Led by Delaney Gregg's 13 kills and Emma Wegleitner's all-around performance, CUI proved they can compete closely with a strong opponent. Wegleitner had her second double-double of the day with 12 kills and 14 digs. She also added three aces and three assists. 
Nevada Knowles did a great job running the offense, racking up a career-high of 43 assists. Multiple players contributed offensively, including Ally Scheidle and Caitlin Jarrell, while the defense stayed active with double-digit digs from Wegleitner and Scheidle. Sofia Ajmal also made her Golden Eagle debut against Colorado School of Mines, contributing a block to the Green and Gold's defense.
