IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team recieved the PacWest team of the week after shutting out three different opponents in six days last week.
All three victories last week came on the road with
CUI first stifling San Francisco State by a count of 4-0.
Sarah Venegas scored twice in the rout and goalkeepers
Riley Urquiza and
Erica Ihlein combined for the clean sheet.
The Golden Eagles stayed focused throughout the week and also
won at Cal State Monterey Bay 1-0 and then in nearby Costa Mesa
at Vanguard by a count of 2-0.
Bella Barrett scored the game-winning goals against both the Otters on Wednesday and the Lions on Saturday. Fittingly, she scored in the fourth minute of each contest to put their opponents on the heels right from the get go.
CUI enters October with a 5-1-1 overall record on the campaign.
Elle Soleau leads the squad with 10 points and is tied with Venegas for the team lead with four goals apiece.
Concordia visits Westmont this Thursday, Oct 2 at 12:30 p.m. for the first PacWest Conference doubleheader of the season. It's ladies first followed by the men right afterwards at 3:15 p.m.
