IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's swim and dive team competed this past weekend at the PCSC Triple Distance Invitational which provided opportunities for the team to showcase their skills in various events. It was the third race in January already as the Golden Eagles continue to improve against regional competition. Azusa Pacific, Biola, The Master's and Soka University also competed alongside Concordia.
Alex Leland won the 50 yard breaststroke with a time of 32.30 seconds to edge a trio of Biola swimmers led by Malia Ciolli. Leland also had a good showing in the 100 yard breaststroke, where she turned in a fifth place performance behind two Biola Eagles and a pair of swimmers from Azusa Pacific.
Carissa Ward swam to a third place finish in three different races to lead the Golden Eagles in the 50, 100 and 200 yard backstroke races. She clocked a speedy time of 28.47 seconds in the 50 which was almost half a second lower than her seed time entering the day.
Ward also shaved off more than two seconds in the 100 back, touching the wall in just over one minute.
Aubrie Carver was not too far behind her, as she took eighth in both the 50 back and 100 back as well with a time of 29.84 seconds and 1:05.78 respectively.
Hannah Edwards claimed fourth place in the 50 Freestyle, asserting herself once again as a speedy competitor in the pool.
Together, the Golden Eagles scored 45 points as they continue to improve during the 2025-26 season.
