IRVINE, Calif. - The Golden Eagles delivered a statement win, sweeping No. 18 Princeton in straight sets 25-22, 25-20, 25-23. The Green and Gold controlled the match with balanced offense, efficient hitting, and timely serving to close each set under pressure.
Aidan Case and
Matt Fisher spread the ball well, totaling 31 assists together, with
Ties Cornelissen leading the way with 13 kills and a .391 hitting percentage, and showing his all-around ability by contributing seven digs.
Christian Galoppo also added seven kills of his own, along with matching Cornelissen's seven digs.
CUI continued to build momentum and opened the second set with an early lead, never letting the Tigers gain control.
Paul Schulteis was dominant in the middle, hitting .625 and providing a spark with two service aces that kept the Tigers off balance.
The Golden Eagles wrapped up the sweep in the third set, again showing balance and poise down the stretch.
Myles Henderson added 11 kills, a season high.364 hitting percentage, consistently finishing swings, and keeping CUI's offense rolling. Defensively, the Green and Gold stayed tough, and with timely swings from the team, they closed out the victory in front of the home crowd.
