IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team picked up their third straight win and sweep over Saint Xavier on Saturday night with scores 25-18,25-21, and 26-24.
The Golden Eagles had a strong start to the match as they took the first set easily after jumping out with the lead. The Cougars challenged CUI in the second and third set but the Green and Gold remained consistent being able to close out both sets.
Ties Cornelissen led CUI with another double digit night with 10 kills and a team high of two aces.
Christian Galoppo and
Myles Henderson added eight and seven kills respectively.
Nathan Habermas was effective out of the middle earning seven kills while hitting an impressive .455.
Paul Schulteis was solid at the net putting up three block assists and two kills.
Libero
Joseph Nunez had a season high of 10 digs from the back row.
Aidan Case led the offense and had 27 assists. Case had two impressive solo blocks that went staight down in front of Cougars outside hitters.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the CU Arena as they take on The Master's Wednesday Jan. 28 with a 6 p.m. start time.
