IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball team took on the NAIA champion The Master's from last season. CUI took care of the first set to win with a comfortable 25-14 score but TMU bounced back to win the next three with scores 25-22, 25-17, and 25-22.
The Green and Gold middles were unstoppable at the net throughout the match.
Paul Schulteis had a career high of 11 kills and one ace.
Nathan Habermas had six kills and was solid defensively up at the net with two solo and four block assists. Both middles hit an impressive .667 hitting percentage.
Christian Galoppo reached double digits with 11 kills and had three aces that went untouched.
Ties Cornelissen added six kills while
Myles Henderson had four. Henderson led CUI with seven digs from the back row.
Logan Whitaker came into the game and made an immediate impact going five-for-eight and no errors.
Setter
Aidan Case dished out 37 assists and dig up six from right back.
Joseph Nunez wore the libero jersey and had four digs.
The Golden Eagles will be on the road as they look for a rematch against The Master's Saturday Jan. 31 with a 5 p.m. start time.
