Golden Eagles Show Up Strong in Conference Opener

IRVINE, CALIF. - The Golden Eagles set the tone early with a strong showing against the Silverswords of Chaminade University of Honolulu in the conference opener.

GAME 1: CUI 4, CUH 1

The Golden Eagles came out strong and methodically built a lead that they would never relinquish. The bats got going early, as Nolan Caira delivered a big homer in the 3rd inning to give Concordia an early boost, and the offense never let up. Jordan Bolden's timely double in the 2nd set the tone, and key RBI hits from Landry Spitler and Isaiah Walz extended the Green and Gold's advantage. CUI showcased balanced production, with six hitters recording hits and demonstrating the depth of its lineup.

On the mound, Concordia starter Shane Timmons put together a stellar performance, going seven strong innings while allowing just two hits and keeping Chaminade off the scoreboard until the 8th. Timmons racked up seven strikeouts and consistently worked out of trouble, demonstrating excellent command and keeping Chaminade's offense in check. Meanwhile, the defense backed him up with clean play, turning crucial outs and limiting extra-base opportunities. The lone run for the Silverswords came in the 8th, but by then the Golden Eagles had already built a comfortable cushion. This complete team effort highlighted CUI's resilient approach and helped secure the Game 1 victory.

GAME 2: CUI 4, CUH 0:

Concordia continued its dominance in the nightcap with a convincing 4-0 shutout performance. The Golden Eagles struck early and efficiently, plating two runs in the 1st inning as Isaiah Walz and Landry Spitler brought home runs with timely hits. This quick offensive burst put immediate pressure on the Chaminade pitching staff and set the tone for the rest of the game. The Green and Gold added to its lead in the 3rd with RBIs from Dylan Knowles and Makamae Du Pont, demonstrating a balanced attack and taking advantage of opportunities to score throughout the lineup.

On the mound, Matthew Kaiser was electric in his start, tossing seven shutout innings while holding Chaminade without a run. Kaiser finished with the nine strikeouts, frustrating opposing batters all afternoon. Complemented by a defense that turned balls into quick outs and kept the momentum with consistent play, the Golden Eagles' pitching staff and fielders combined to deliver a complete-game effort. The Golden Eagles' performance in the second game underscored their ability to execute under pressure and secure a 2-0 start to the opening series.
