Golden Eagles Unable to Slow Sea Lions

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Nicholas Corbett scored 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds on Saturday night as the Concordia Golden Eagles took on Point Loma in PacWest action at Golden Gym.

Jackson Tucker added 10 points off the bench, while Kaden Minter and Kevin Haupt each contributed nine. The Golden Eagles were strong at the free throw line, shooting 21-for-26 (80.8 percent), and poured in 41 second-half points after trailing at the break

However, Point Loma used a dominant first half to take control of the contest. The Sea Lions closed the opening period on a big run to build a 36-18 halftime advantage and went on to secure an 85-59 victory.

Point Loma shot an efficient 58.5 percent from the field and connected on 13-of-24 from three-point range. The Sea Lions also held a 34-22 rebounding edge and scored 36 points in the paint, limiting Concordia's opportunities to chip away at the deficit.

Despite the loss, the Golden Eagles remain in the thick of the PacWest race at 11-9 in conference play as the regular season winds down.

The top six teams at the end of the regular season will qualify for the PacWest Conference Championships.

Next up for the Golden Eagles is a road matchup on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. against Biola University in another key PacWest showdown.
