IRVINE, Calif. -
Kaden Minter and
Marcellus Edwards both scorched the nets by pouring in 27 points each to catapult Concordia University Irvine past Menlo College on Tuesday, 78-66.
Edwards shot an extraordinary 10-for-15 from the field and made two three-pointers. His 27 points are a new career-high for the Green and Gold and ee also went 5-for-6 from the free throw line with three rebounds, two assists and a pair of steals. He also played a career-high 36 minutes.
Minter turned it on late to help cement the victory and finished with a double-double. In addition to leading all players with 11 rebounds, the Mater Dei High School alum made 10-of-18 shots from the floor and was 5-for-9 from three-point land.
One of the best moments of the night for the home crowd was when
James Freeman entered the chat, found an opening along the baseline and threw down a monster dunk to catch the Oaks off guard.
Ben Krystkowiak found him in rhythm and the throwdown put CUI up 49-35 early in the second half.
Fellow starters
Nick Corbett and
MaCarhy Morris combined for 15 points. Morris led CUI with five dimes while Krystkowiak added four rebounds as well.
