CARSON, Calif. – The CUI baseball team played one game against Cal State Dominguez Hills for a second straight day on the road. The Toros took the second game of the series by a score 9-1.
The Golden Eagles tried to get things going in the fourth with a triple from
Wyatt Madison smacked to right field until
Dylan Knowles flied out into a double play with the Toros getting Madison out at home on the play.
CSUDH put up five runs in the fifth frame followed by four in the bottom of the sixth.
Ian Stewart came into pinch hit in the ninth and reached on a hit and made his way to third from a fielding error. Knowles grounded out to the shortstop while Stewart came home to put up a run for CUI.
Shane Timmons had his second start on the bump and went five innings. The freshman allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out four batters.
Josh Pugh,
Michael Panichi, and
Luka Brancato came in as relievers. The trio struck out a combined five hitters in the three innings pitched.
The Golden Eagles will finish the series against Cal State Dominguez Hills at the Golden Eagles Field Saturday Feb. 7 with 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. start times.
