Hueston, CUI Collect WWPA Awards With Tourney On Horizon

Soto Joins Freshman With First Team All-Conference selection; CUI To Play Friday Exhibition Before Semifinal On Saturday

IRVINE, Calif. – Six different Golden Eagles earned All-Conference honors on Wednesday by coaches across the league!

Freshman Mia Hueston is your WWPA Newcomer of the Year and was joined by junior goalie Jaden Soto on the WWPA First Team. Sophomore Anna Tyukasz was named Second Team and freshman Amber Lewis garnered Honorable Mention when all the votes from the head coaches were compiled.

Australia native Lucy Aggs joined Soto to represent CUI on the WWPA All-Defensive Team. Meanwhile, Hueston and teammate Alexa De Villiers both made the All-Freshman Team.

It's important to note that all six Concordia honorees are not seniors, meaning this group has lots of water polo ahead of it as a foundation moving forward too.

Hueston led the Golden Eagles with 58 goals and 21 assists for 79 total points - which ranked Top 5 in the league. Hueston also split time with senior standout Hannah Edwards on the sprints and they both win possession nearly two-thirds of the time.
Tyukasz was an ACWPC All-American last season as a true freshman and made All-Conference list for a second straight year. She led CUI with 34 recorded assists and was third with 37 goals. Her game-winner to beat Biola in sudden death overtime helped CUI secure the No. 1 seed in the West region and a bye in the first round of the upcoming WWPA Conference Tournament.

Tyukasz was also just named WWPA Player of the Week on Tuesday after her clutch play in CUI's last two regular season victories. She had a hat trick and two assists in Friday's win over Cal State Monterey Bay to finish this past week with 7 goals, 3 assists and multiple drawn exclusions.

Soto was an ACWPC Honorable Mention All-American last season and already holds the school record for career saves at Concordia. She added to that benchmark with over 160 saves this campaign and was in the cage for 10 of CUI's 18 victories this regular season. The junior from Murrieta has developed a penchant for stealing the ball at critical times and racked up 56 steals which led the league. Her 9.83 GAA is also impressive.

Aggs is critical to defending the center of the pool and has been credited with 23 recorded steals this season. De Villiers was also crucial to her team's success and added 31 goals and 13 recorded assists as a true freshman.
