IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team opened up their season with a loss in a hard-fought battle to Cal State LA, 1-0.
After an early goal in the third minute, Goalkeeper Sebastian Marin was able to make two saves on six shots against him. Marin was able to hold Cal State LA scoreless the rest of the match.
Freshman Defender Grayson Elisaldez was a spark plug for the Golden Eagles. After coming into the game during the middle of the first half, he was able to turn momentum and even had 1 shot on goal, just missing far right. Elisaldez looks to build off his very impressive collegiate debut.
The Golden Eagles played a lot better in the second half, being able to get six shots off. Unfortunately none of the shots found the back of the CSULA net, but the team has a lot of momentum going into their next match.
The men will be back at home on Saturday, Aug. 29th to take on the Cougars of Cal State San Marcos. This game is set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. PT at Golden Eagles Field.
