SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team continued play at the Yotes Classic Showcase Friday with a dominant three-set sweep over Cal State LA, winning 25-22, 25-17, 25-20.

The victory was the first in volleyball program history over Cal State LA and moved Concordia to 2-1 on the young season.

Freshman Livia Eyre continued her impressive start for the Green and Gold, leading the offense with a career-high 16 kills while hitting .387. Eyre committed just four errors on 31 attempts and added two service aces to finish with a match-high 18.5 points.

The opening set saw the Golden Eagles battle back after falling behind 11-5. Emma Wegleitner helped spark the run from the service line with back-to-back aces, while Eyre added a kill as CUI moved ahead 19-15. The Green and Gold maintained their advantage down the stretch before Eyre put away the final point to secure the 25-22 win.

CUI carried that momentum directly into the second set, jumping out to a 4-0 lead. The Golden Eagles continued to apply pressure offensively and created separation as the frame progressed. CUI recorded 16 kills in the set while hitting .333, its most efficient offensive performance of the match, on the way to a convincing 25-17 victory and a 2-0 match advantage.

With the sweep within reach, the Golden Eagles continued to control the match in the third set. CUI totaled 14 kills while holding Cal State LA to just eight. The Green and Gold closed out the set 25-20 to complete their second sweep in three matches to begin the 2026 campaign.
