IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team snagged two hard-fought victories away from home last week and was rewarded with a Top 25 national ranking.
CUI comes in at No. 13 in the new national IWSOC Top 25 Poll among NCAA DII women's soccer teams. IWSOC stands for the recently launched Intercollegiate Women's Soccer Organization that works in partnership with the United Soccer Coaches.
CUI is also currently No. 2 in the regional IWSOC rankings behind Cal Poly Pomona.

Ashley Grubert was named PacWest Player of the Week for the first time in her Concordia career. A senior captain, Grubert scored twice and added an assist on a
Bella Barrett goal
to help CUI defeat Stanislaus State 2-1 and
top Cal Poly Humboldt 3-2 up in Northern California.
Concordia also captured the first PacWest Team of the Week award as the only team in the league to open the campaign 2-0. Stanislaus State and CUI were both receiving votes in the national preseason poll.

"The recognition is great as a mile marker for progress thus far," said CUI head coach
Chris Gould. "It also reflects the quality of opponents that we have faced. In both of those wins, things could have gone a different direction pretty quickly. I'm thankful for the character of this team. There is a lot of season left to play but we are off to a positive start."
Upcoming opponents such as No. 2 Cal Poly Pomona and No. 21 Simon Fraser are coming up on the schedule later in September.
But first, CUI visits Cal State San Marcos this Thursday, Sept. 3 at 12 p.m. PT.
The Golden Eagles will then get to host Cal State San Bernardino for the home opener this Saturday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. PT
