ROCKLIN, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine women's volleyball team is off to a blazing start after being
ranked No. 25 earlier this week in the AVCA DII National Poll. The Golden Eagles delivered another dominant performance Friday night sweeping Jessup in commanding fashion 25-18, 25-12, 25-19. With the victory CUI improved to an impressive 5-0 in PacWest play marking the program's best conference start since joining the PacWest. Every one of those five wins has come in straight sets.
Emma Wegleitner powered the Golden Eagles attack racking up 13 kills while hitting an impressive .444. She also made her presence felt defensively with eight digs from the back row. Sophomore
Sofia Ajmal added eight kills while
Kayden Croy chipped in four.
In the middle
Delaney Gregg was nearly unstoppable. Gregg blasted 11 kills while hitting a remarkable .625 continuing her dominant run at the net. She also anchored the Golden Eagles defense at the net with four block assists while Croy added three.
Sarah Guglielmana contributed two kills and two block assists.
The back row for CUI continued to keep the pressure on with
Kendyll Winn leading the way with 10 digs and
Celia Dowell adding six.
Nevada Knowles ran the offense with 27 assists while also contributing four kills and nine digs in an all-around performance.
The Golden Eagles will finish their NorCal trip against Dominican Saturday Sept. 26 with a 2 p.m. start time in San Rafael, Calif.
