SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The Golden Eagles continued their perfect start to PacWest play Saturday afternoon, sweeping Dominican 25-17, 25-17, 25-18 to improve to 12-2 overall and 6-0 in conference.
CUI came out firing in the opening frame, recording 18 kills and hitting .438 as a team on its way to a 25-17 win. The Golden Eagles carried that momentum into the second set, holding Dominican to a .029 hitting percentage while taking another 25-17 victory. CUI closed out the afternoon with a 25-18 win in the third to secure another conference sweep.
Emma Wegleitner put together a dominant performance on both sides of the ball, leading the Green and Gold with 20 kills on just 32 swings while hitting a career-high .563. The outside hitter also collected 13 digs to complete the double-double and added two service aces. Wegleitner accounted for 22.5 points in the three-set victory.
Nevada Knowles continued to guide the Golden Eagles' offense, dishing out 26 assists while contributing 10 digs for a double-double of her own. Knowles also added a service ace as CUI finished the afternoon with 43 kills and a .282 team hitting percentage.
Kayden Croy was extremely efficient at the net, putting away eight kills on 11 attempts with just one error for a team and career-high .636 hitting percentage. Croy also added a solo block while totaling nine points despite appearing in only two sets.
Delaney Gregg added another efficient performance in the middle, finishing with five kills on eight attempts and hitting .500. Gregg also contributed two blocks, including a solo block, helping the Golden Eagles limit Dominican to a .127 hitting percentage for the match.
UP NEXT: The Green and Gold will be home on Wednesday, September 30 at 5 pm to take on Cal State LA in a non-conference match-up.
