LAKEWOOD, Colo.- Concordia University Irvine men's soccer team gained a draw 2-2 on their first road game of the 2026 season against Colorado Christian.
Colorado Christian went up 1-0 in the 39th minute to break open the scoring. But just over a minute later, the Golden Eagles tied the game with a penalty kick goal by forward Bryan Maldonado. This is Maldonado's first goal of the season.
CCU then got the lead back in the 62nd minute to make the score 2-1. Concordia looked to fight back in the second half to get the score back to even. The men fought and tied the game up in the 86th minute with a goal by defender Grayson Elisaldez. The goal was assisted by midfielder Angel Reyes. This was the first goal for the freshman Elisaldez in his college career. This was the first assist for Reyes this year and the fourth in his career.
In his first career start at goalkeeper, Rowan Johnson was able to record four saves en route to the draw.
The men head down the street to Golden, Colo. to face Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, Sept. 5th. The game will begin at 11:00 a.m. PT.
