Ben Rosehart has served as the college sports communicator (also known as sports information director or SID) at Concordia University Irvine since August 2018. In addition to highlighting both the academic and athletic achievements of CUI's student-athletes, coaches and teams, he also coordinates the staffing of CUI home sporting events on campus and helps update bios, team schedules and record books for CUI Athletics. The Philadelphia native also is in charge of managing the website and social media platforms for CUI Athletics.
In now his eighth school year at CUI, he has covered a number of ground-breaking moments for the Golden Eagles. This includes the CUI men's basketball, softball, women's soccer and men's and women's tennis teams making the regional tournament for the first time in the school's NCAA DII era, as well as the men's volleyball program's first win over UCLA. Other memorable moments include the CUI baseball team turning a triple play at home,
a 36-game winning streak by the softball team to open the 2023 season, and some epic Senior Day wins including
an overtime thriller for men's water polo back in 2021.
Rosehart has helped organize and staff the first five
Concordia Kickoff Classic tournaments - which features 20+ NCAA DII softball programs every year competing in a three-day span at nearby Orange County Great Park. During his time at CUI, the school has also hosted the D2 West Regional softball tournament multiple times on campus and even live streamed multiple cross country races in 2024 - including the PacWest Conference XC Championships at Great Park.
He enjoys mentoring graduate assistants and student-workers while managing game days and media days. Former Concordia sports information graduate assistants have landed full-time jobs at a number of universities, including
Azusa Pacific,
Biola,
Dominican and
Fresno Pacific in the PacWest Conference as well as
Cal Poly Pomona,
Chico State and the
College of Idaho. In 2022, Rosehart was honored as the leader of
the PacWest Conference Sports Information Department of the Year - an annual honor that is voted on by peers throughout the league.
He currently serves as a voter for both the D2SIDA West Region men's basketball poll and the NCBWA baseball regional poll, and contributed for three years on the PacWest Conference tennis ranking committee.
Before joining the CUI family, he worked in local television for twelve years as a sportscaster in a variety of roles.
Rosehart worked at NBC7 in San Diego for three years as a TV sports producer, photographer and sports reporter covering a variety of local sports including the Padres, Chargers and Gulls as well as teams at UC San Diego, San Diego State and the University of San Diego. During his time in the Midwest, he covered everything from Hawkeyes football and basketball to high school wrestling and was in charge of organizing KWQC-TV's long-running "Highlight Zone" high school sports show on Friday nights.
His TV broadcasting journey began in Cheyenne, Wyoming where he spent five years as a sports anchor/reporter for the local CBS affiliate KGWN-TV and even filled in as a news reporter and morning show anchor when needed. Over the years, he has had the privilege of interviewing famous athletes like NFL stars Brian Dawkins and Eric Weddle, major leaguers Troy Tulowitzki and Chris Paddack, and even NBA All-Star Damian Lillard and Boston Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi.
