The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles fell to Pepperdine on the road in three sets on Sunday in their first loss of the 2016 season.
By the Numbers: Jonathan Predney led CUI with four blocks, and Devin Ross, Andrew Hammer, Spencer Lane, and Ryan Anselmo each added three kills. Joseph Pillon and Cristian Rodriguez each had 10 assists.
The Difference: Pepperdine hit .431, held CUI at .061, and outblocked them 8-5.
Critical Plays: Set one was close and tied at 10, but the Waves pulled ahead 17-11 and won 25-18. The Waves dominated set two from the start and won 25-14. Anselmo and Predney kept CUI close in set three, 7-8, but the Waves ran out 20-11 and won 25-14.
What it Means: CUI is 4-1 on the season after their first match with a Division I opponent this year.
