After Comeback Set One, Eagles Down Princeton 3-0

The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles started Homecoming 2016 with a 3-0 win over Princeton on Friday night in front of a loud CU Arena crowd.

By the Numbers: Jonathan Predney got going late and led CUI with 11 kills hitting .333.  Taylor Falduti added 10 kills and four blocks.  Cristian Rodriguez had 37 assists and four blocks.

The Difference:  CUI won in blocking 8.5-4.5, and hit .373 with a sideout percentage over 65% in every set.

Critical Plays:  It was the Tigers early in set one, 7-3.  Taylor Falduti tried to keep CUI close, 13-9.  Falduti's single block completed the comeback and tied it at 18, and Cristian Rodriguez blocked for the lead.  Falduti finished the set, 25-20.  CUI fell down early again in set two, but tied the match at eight.  A block from Rodriguez and Falduti give CUI the edge.  The Tigers jumped back ahead by two, but Jonathan Predney killed one from the side to regain the 16-15 lead.  PU tied again at 21, but Andrew Hammer pushed it back to 23-21.  They took that lead to the 25-23 win.  Predney added to some PU errors and CUI led 8-6 in set three.  That's all the Eagles would need as they never trailed and won

What it Means:  The Eagles improve to 7-1 and 3-0 all-time against Princeton.  CUI has now won 28-straight matches at home.

Up Next:  CUI will play Holy Names and Cal Baptist in Riverside on Saturday, February 6.  They start with Holy Names at 4 pm.
