The Rundown: The Concordia Eagles started Homecoming 2016 with a 3-0 win over Princeton on Friday night in front of a loud CU Arena crowd.
By the Numbers: Jonathan Predney got going late and led CUI with 11 kills hitting .333. Taylor Falduti added 10 kills and four blocks. Cristian Rodriguez had 37 assists and four blocks. Â
The Difference:Â CUI won in blocking 8.5-4.5, and hit .373 with a sideout percentage over 65% in every set.Â
Critical Plays: It was the Tigers early in set one, 7-3. Taylor Falduti tried to keep CUI close, 13-9. Falduti's single block completed the comeback and tied it at 18, and Cristian Rodriguez blocked for the lead. Falduti finished the set, 25-20. CUI fell down early again in set two, but tied the match at eight. A block from Rodriguez and Falduti give CUI the edge. The Tigers jumped back ahead by two, but Jonathan Predney killed one from the side to regain the 16-15 lead. PU tied again at 21, but Andrew Hammer pushed it back to 23-21. They took that lead to the 25-23 win. Predney added to some PU errors and CUI led 8-6 in set three. That's all the Eagles would need as they never trailed and won
What it Means:Â The Eagles improve to 7-1 and 3-0 all-time against Princeton. Â CUI has now won 28-straight matches at home.
