Box Score The Concordia Eagles played two games against the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds on Friday and finished the second game Saturday after it was rained out at Eagles Field.
The Eagles won the first game, 3-0, and also the second game 4-3.
Isaiah Terrazas was in as starting pitcher for the Eagles in game one. He pitched the whole game, made four strikeouts, and gave up no runs on eight hits. Terrazas recorded the win and improved his record to 2-1.
In the first game, the Eagles scored three runs, had six hits, and committed no errors. They won 3-0.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when
Hunter Holland doubled to right center and
Brian Fleischli was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with no outs.
Joey Thompson singled through the right side to load the bases with no outs to bring
Michael Nava to the plate. Nava walkedto bring in Holland and put the Eagles ahead 1-0.
Ryan Land was next to bat, still with the bases loaded, and sac flied to center field to bring in Fleischli.
Tino Leite was up next with runners on first and second and both runners advanced after a wild pitch by Jake Martinez. Leite recorded an RBI after a hard hit ground ball up the middle to drive in Thompson and take a 3-0 lead as the game headed into the sixth inning.
The Eagles held off the Sunbirds through the rest of the game and won, 3-0. Following the win, the Eagles record improves to 11-14 overall and 7-6 in the PacWest.
In the second game,
Brett Barker started on the mound for the Eagles. He pitched through the 5
th inning and allowed two runs on five hits, while recording four strikeouts.
Collin Orellana started the sixth inning and pitched through the 10
th recording one strikeout and allowing one run on five hits. Orellana recorded the win and his record is now 3-1.
The sunbirds were first to get on the board, after scoring on a single from Joey Gallegos to drive in Nick Pate to take a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, the Eagles loaded the bases when
Nick Daley singled and advanced to second on a sac bunt by
Luke Van Holten.
Spencer Nielsen was hit by a pitch and
Ryan Land singled through the right side to load the bases with two outs.
Chad Whiteaker flied out to center to end the inning and the Eagles left three runners stranded.
The Sunbirds extended their lead, 2-0, after Angel Flores homered to left field.
In the sixth, the Eagles scored after
John Bornhop singled and drove in
Ryan Land and again in the seventh to tie the game 2-2 after
Ryan Land hit a single up the middle.
The sunbirds scored the go ahead run in the top of the eighth after a triple from Preston Scott leading to an RBI single for Nick Pate.
Headed into the bottom of the ninth the Eagles trailed 3-2 and scored the tying run after a
Spencer Nielsen single up the middle to bring in
Brett Barker to even the score 3-3.
In the bottom of the 11
th,
Brett Barker hit a leadoff triple to set up
Joey Thompson for a walk off single to score the winning run.
The Eagles won 4-3.
The Eagles next matchup up a double-header against Fresno Pacific for games three and four of the four game series at 11AM on Eagles Field.
